Getting a good fit
Choosing settings
- Tubing
- Set the inner and outer diameters to match your tubing. You may need to adjust them slightly to get a perfect fit. If the tubing tends to slip off, add a zip tie for extra retention.
- Axle tolerance
- Start at 0.1 mm. If the hub won’t slide onto the shaft, reprint at 0.15 or 0.2 mm. Negative values give a press fit.
- Spokes
- More spokes give more contacts per revolution. Fewer spokes leave more open space between them.
Printing
- Material
- PETG or PLA+ both work. PETG survives impacts better.
- Split or together
- We recommend printing it split: print the two halves, then join them together on the axle. This way, no supports are needed. If you print it in one piece, orient it with the bore facing the bed and use tree supports.
- Strength
- Use at least 3 walls and 40% infill so the barbs don’t snap.
